In our previous blog we explained how to evaluate your event. In this blog, we dive deeper in how to keep your survey relevant, short & sweet. Make sure your respondents only get the questions are actually applicable to them. This will result in higher response rates - so you as an organiser have more data to determine the results of your event!
It is smart to draft your questionnaire before building the survey online. You will soon find out that not all questions are applicable for all respondents. You might want to ask specific questions about a particular workshop or speaker. Letting respondents skip to a future question is now a piece of cake.
This makes it possible for your respondents to automatically skip the questions that are not relevant to them. This works only when you know exactly how the questionnaire is build up - and which questions apply to whom.
You can use Skip Logic for all types of questions:
For example, you can use your event survey tool to find out how well each speaker performed during your event:
The respondents that selected Speaker A will see the following question:
Respondents that selected Speaker B will automatically skip Question 5 and be directed to Question 6: “How would you rate Speaker B?” etc. For each follow-up question, you can choose between a rating question or a Likert Scale. You will now receive detailed feedback about each specific speaker.
In Momice, you can use the feature immediately, when building your survey. This requires the following 6 steps:
Formulate all your survey questions in the Website Module (Step 3).
Determine which questions apply to specific respondents only.
Open the question where the answer paths divides. Now you can determine the logic for the follow-up questions.
Select Skip Logic in your event survey tool, and determine the next question for your respondent (and thus - which answers are skipped).
Open the follow-up question and select “Only show this question at Skip Logic response”. This way, this specific question will not be visible to the other respondents.
Check the logic in the question overview - and test the various answer options thoroughly! You can keep adjusting the logic until you’re happy with the outcome.
The number of respondents is crucial for measuring your event results. You can achieve a higher completion rate by following the steps above.
A short survey is pleasant for your visitors. They will need less time to complete it - and the quality of the answers will be better if all questions are actually relevant to them. This is beneficial for you as an organiser.
Also handy: when calculating your visitor enthusiasm by using the Net Promotor Score (NPS), you can also apply Skip Logic to gain more in-depth insights.

Asking the right questions of your respondents, will help you evaluate the event even better! Make sure you draw up the questionnaire and all answer paths to keep a clear overview - and try to make it as easy as possible for your respondents to complete the survey.
